Robert P. Norton, M.D.

Dr. Robert P. Norton is a board-certified orthopaedic spine surgeon and founding partner of Florida Spine Associates. Widely recognized for his clinical expertise and innovation in spine care, Dr. Norton is dedicated to delivering advanced, patient-centered treatment for a wide range of spinal conditions.

A respected thought leader in spine surgery, Dr. Norton routinely mentors medical students and orthopaedic surgery residents, lectures at national and international conferences, and teaches surgeons the latest spine surgery techniques through educational courses and cadaver labs. He is actively involved in research, regularly publishes in peer-reviewed medical journals, and serves on design committees developing the next generation of spinal implants and medical devices.

He currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for PSN Affiliates at Legent Hospital System and is actively involved in guiding the future of spine care through leadership roles in multiple professional organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors for Ortho Florida, the Florida Orthopaedic Society, Delray Beach Surgical Suites, the American Peptide Association, and the Florida Orthopaedic Risk Purchasing Group. He also chairs the Florida Orthopaedic Society’s Disaster Relief Committee and contributes to health policy initiatives as a member of the Health Policy Committee.

Dr. Norton’s clinical practice focuses on the full spectrum of spinal disorders through both surgical and non-surgical treatment. His areas of expertise include regenerative medicine, outpatient minimally invasive spine surgery, motion preservation procedures such as total disc arthroplasty, and in-office kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures.

Dr. Norton completed a spine surgery fellowship at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident.

He earned his medical degree magna cum laude with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) distinction from Jefferson Medical College and holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science magna cum laude from Rutgers University.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Norton is an active researcher, educator, and international speaker dedicated to advancing the field of spine surgery. He frequently lectures at national and international conferences, trains surgeons through cadaver labs and educational courses, publishes research in peer-reviewed medical journals, and contributes to the development of innovative spinal implants and medical devices. His innovations include a patented pedicle screw-mounted retractor.
