We pride ourselves on offering new, innovative and state-of-the-art spinal procedures that help patients “take back” their lives.
From the latest in neuromodulation to revolutionary robotic surgery, our spine specialists constantly are striving to offer the best possible treatment for optimal recovery.
As we rounded out 2025, we wanted to highlight some of the new spine procedures we introduced last year.
Robotic Procedures
Robotic procedures are minimally invasive surgeries where a robotic arm assists the surgeon. The goal of this specialized surgery is to improve accuracy and precision, reduce the risk of complications, and provide faster recovery times. The arm is guided by the surgeon, who is programming the robot and controlling every movement using a console, which is connected to the robot’s apparatus.
Milad Alam, M.D., uses robotic surgery to provide his patients with improved experiences.
“I have been using the newest technology with robotic navigation to increase accuracy, allow for quicker recovery, and minimize post-operative complications and pain,” he says.
Medtronic’s Inceptiv™ Spinal Cord Neurostimulation
Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is one of the most effective and innovative pain management treatments offered at Florida Spine Associates.
The spinal cord stimulator is an implanted device that sends low levels of electricity directly into the spinal cord to relieve pain, improving overall quality of life and reducing the need for pain medications.
As the newest SCS technology, Inceptiv™’s closed loop spinal cord neurostimulation system can be programmed and tailored to a patient’s individual pain pattern, targeting the dose of therapy based on signals that it reads from the patient’s spinal cord. It works 24/7 to provide pain relief as patients go about their lives.
SCS can help manage and treat a wide range of chronic pain types, including neuropathic and ischemic pain, and is often the go-to treatment for pain that has not responded to other forms of treatment or has no identified cause.
ReActiv8
An FDA-approved and minimally invasive therapy, ReActiv8 stimulates gentle contractions of the multifidus muscle, which gradually restores strength and stability to the lumbar spine.
The outpatient procedure directly addresses the root cause of pain, offering long-term relief without dependence on medications or ongoing therapies.
Two small leads (or coated wires) and a small, implantable neurostimulation device are placed near the medial branch nerves that control the multifidus muscle. The device delivers gentle electrical pulses, activating the muscle and retraining it to function properly.
ReActiv8 does not alter the structure of the spine, has minimal recovery time, and is fully reversible.
“ReActiv8 is changing that by restoring the body’s natural support system, addressing the root cause of pain rather than just masking symptoms,” said Interventional Pain Management expert Michael Auerbach, D.O. “It’s a breakthrough that’s helping patients regain control of their lives.”
FSA remains at the forefront of medicine, pushing boundaries and embracing groundbreaking advancements to give patients the best treatment possible.
