10 Questions with Dr. Seth MacMahon

Each month, we ask one of our practitioners to answer questions that offer a glimpse into their practice and their lives.

Dr. Seth MacMahon is a third-generation, board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management physician. He specializes in minimally invasive and non-interventional treatment options for complex pain conditions, with a special interest in neuromodulation and spinal cord stimulation therapy.

1. Where is your hometown?

I grew up in Miami, Florida – where I also completed medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Go ‘Canes!

2. What is your specialty?

I specialize in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. After graduating from UM, I completed my Anesthesiology residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana, where I served as chief resident. I then completed my Pain Management fellowship at the University of Alabama, where I learned to treat both acute and chronic pain conditions with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and compassionate approach.

3. Why did you become an Interventional Pain Management physician?

I’m passionate about helping people improve their pain and daily function, as well as getting them back to the activities they enjoy. As a pain management doctor who also enjoys watching sports and all things fitness, it’s important to me that patients can get back to doing what they love – golfing, tennis, boating, pickleball, etc.

4. Why did you join Florida Spine Associates?

I believe our practice is the best multidisciplinary spine and pain management team in the region. We have an incredibly dedicated team and I’m proud to work alongside top physicians who share my passion for helping others.

5. Favorite part of working at FSA?

The people! We have the best doctors and team. Together, we’re able to ensure patients are matched with the right specialty and treatment course they require.

And, as far as patients go, I love meeting so many wonderful people with a variety of interesting stories.

6. What would the staff say about you?

I think they would say I am passionate about helping our patients. I always strive to get the best results and offer the most stress-free experience.

7. How do you like to relax?

I love spending time with my children and friends. I also love playing golf! I am a two-handicap golfer and often play with other providers from the practice.

8. Do you have any pets?

I have one dog – an adorable yorkie named Karma.

9. What’s your favorite movie?

I love watching “Catch Me If You Can” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. The cat-and-mouse game based on a real-life criminal is fascinating, and the retro cinematography make it a treat to watch!

10. What is your favorite sports team?

Go Dolphins!
