JFK Hospital is the first in Palm Beach County to offer this innovative technology for minimally invasive spine surgery
October 17, 2022– HCA Florida JFK Hospital continues to be at the forefront of technology, becoming the first hospital in Palm Beach County to offer a revolutionary robotic navigation platform, for minimally invasive spine and brain procedures. The technology is designed to enhance patient safety and improve accuracy and efficiency in the operating room. By using robotics and navigation, with GPS-like precision, the system provides improved visualization of patient anatomy throughout the procedure to help optimize treatment. The robotic navigation platform is the world’s first technology to combine a rigid robotic arm and full navigation capabilities into one adaptable platform.
The first surgery was successfully performed on Friday, October 14, 2022 by Dr. Brett Schlifka, neurosurgeon and Dr. Milad Alam, orthopedic spine surgeon. “Utilizing the intraoperative imaging system in the operating room eliminates the need for multiple imaging devices throughout one procedure, and the compact footprint amplifies the system’s agility and usability, “said Dr. Schlifka. “These technology tools allow us to provide more efficient care for our patients.”
Adding this new technology aligns with JFK Hospital’s ongoing commitment to provide the communities they serve with the latest technology, providing a higher level of care for patients close to home. “We look forward to the exciting opportunities and undoubtable impact this innovative technology will bring to the field of spine surgery, robotics, and navigation,” said Dr. Alam.
